Herbal First Aid
Herbal First Aid is a live hands-on mini class introducing birthworkers, doulas, caregivers, and community members to traditional herbal remedies that may be used to support the body during common minor first-aid situations. In this class, we will explore practical herbs and simple preparations traditionally used for situations such as minor cuts and scrapes, bruises, swelling, burns, insect bites, digestive discomfort, and other everyday concerns. Students will learn how herbs may be prepared and used safely as part of a home or birthworker’s first-aid toolkit.
We will also discuss
-When herbal support is appropriate, when it is not, and when professional or emergency medical care is necessary.
-Special attention will be given to safe preparation, dosage considerations, allergies, contraindications, and situations involving pregnant people, babies, and postpartum mothers.
This class honors traditional plant wisdom while encouraging responsible, informed care. Students will leave with practical knowledge they can incorporate into their personal wellness practices and community birthwork. Come learn how the wisdom of the plants can become part of your everyday first-aid village.
